“Young Scholars Programme is a truly transformational experience!”
YSP encourages student diversity, collaboration, and intellectual curiosity, making it one of the most academically enriching programmes in the country. Beyond academics, it also fosters personal growth and leadership, while providing a culturally immersive environment where students build lifelong connections.
“YSP was honestly one of the best experiences I’ve had – it was fun, intense, and really eye-opening. The session on ‘Diplomacy, Power and Conflict’ made me think about inequality in ways I never had before, and I loved how ‘Plumber’s Guide to a Millionaire’ connected subjects like economics, physics, and math. I also realised that leadership isn’t always about taking charge – it’s about adapting and supporting your team. Whether it was talent night or late-night card games with my floormates, I got a real feel of college life, and I’m definitely taking these memories and learnings with me.”

“So far, so great – the people, campus vibes, and professors here are amazing. I was a little nervous at first, but everyone was really warm, and the packed days with lectures and sports are a lot of fun. The critical thinking and college essay session by Professor Arpita Das, and the inspiring lecture from Deep Kalra (Make My Trip founder), were real highlights. I’m here to network and get to know this place, and it’s been very nice.â€

“I’m from a very small town called Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu, so I think it’s an immense pleasure for me to come to Ashoka from a very small city that’s even very hard to find on the map. Although I was nervous about adapting to such diverse backgrounds, the team and counselors made it easy and welcoming. The open, encouraging academic sessions helped me adapt quickly and now I am excited for what’s more to do during the programme.”

“YSP gave me the perfect mix of independence and support – it felt so welcoming from the start. I chose the Foundation Programme to explore different streams and understand how they might connect with my passion for human rights. One of my favourite sessions was on literature and identity, where we reflected on how global influences often overshadow our understanding of our own culture… Apart from this, performing my poetry at Talent Night was a big step for me – it helped me begin to overcome my fear of public speaking.â€

At YSP, students were provided with postcards to correspond with Ashoka’s professors, speakers, counselors, and other members of the community. After penning their thoughts, the YSP team facilitated the delivery of the postcards to the relevant people!
To Prof Annie Baxi,
Without doubt my favorite lecture of the program, We not only learned about cultural psychology through text but by real-life examples that helped us understand this concept in great detail. I was also really inspired by your strong opinions on principles of cultural psychology. Cannot wait to learn more from you as a student next time <3.

To Prof Debayan Gupta,
I found both your sessions on cryptography super interesting – especially the Dilfie-Hellman process. Thank you so much for patiently explaining the concepts and teaching with so much enthusiasm – it has definitely sparked my interest in cryptography.

“The most important thing is exposure and to open up his mind to possibilities that he can pursue. Since he is in Grade 9, this is the right time to explore different paths of the world and also different disciplines – that he might finally find his interest in.
Ashoka is perhaps the best liberal arts university in the country today. I have been following Ashoka for a while now. There is no parallel to Ashoka right now.”
