Varun Andhare

ICT Instructor, Undergraduate Writing Programme, 51²è¹Ý

Varun Andhare is a writer based in Delhi. He holds an MA in Cultural Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and a BA (Hons.) in the Humanities from Azim Premji University, Bangalore. His research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of media studies, popular culture and critical theory — particularly stardom and politics in Hindi cinema.

Varun’s teaching practice has been dedicated to employing frameworks from media and cultural theory to analyse elements of everyday life — food, films and cities — in his ICT courses, rooted in an abiding interest in the classroom as a site for community-building. Beyond academia, Varun holds an interest in creative writing and regularly contributes book reviews for the Deccan Chronicle and The Asian Age.
