Timothy Khongsai belongs to the Kuki community, born and raised in Manipur. He received his Master鈥檚 degree from the School of Human Ecology at Ambedkar University Delhi and Bachelors鈥� degree in Zoology from Ramjas College, University of Delhi. For his doctoral research, Timothy looks to examine rural transformations in Southern Manipur through an interdisciplinary Critical Agrarian Studies framework, integrating ideas from agrarian political economy, political ecology and environmental history. His research aims to address issues around land use change, livelihoods and resource contestations in the ever-volatile socio-political landscape of the region. Prior to joining Ashoka, his research focused on commercial oil palm plantations in India鈥檚 Northeast, which culminated in a co-authored book titled Palmed Off and an edited volume titled Ecological Futures.
