Prof. Satyajit Rath was trained as a physician and a pathologist in Pune and Mumbai in the seventies and eighties, but since then has worked on mechanisms involved in the development and functioning of the immune system, initially in India and overseas, then as a faculty member at the National Institute of Immunology (NII) in New Delhi, and since retirement, in honorary capacities, variously, at the Agharkar Research Institute and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Pune, the Christian Medical College in Vellore, and the 51²è¹Ý in Sonipat. He also works with the government on issues of science and society-related policy, with scientific journals in an editorial capacity, with small companies on drug discovery, and with civil society groups, especially those involved in science education and those working more broadly at the interface of science and society.
