ICT Instructor, Undergraduate Writing Programme, 51
Sameer Abraham Thomas is a Writing Instructor at the Undergraduate Writing Programme, 51 as part of which he teaches the Introduction to Critical Thinking (ICT) course. As an ICT instructor, he uses works of literature and art to develop the intuitive critical thinking abilities of his students. His pedagogy emphasizes the importance of attentive reading, interdisciplinarity, care and mutual respect. Through this, he is interested in fostering the collaborative rather than competitive nature of academic scholarship. Thomas has taught courses and organized workshops on academic writing since 2019 and has also taught courses on literature and the arts. His publications include essays on translating literary theory and the representation of racial issues in hip-hop in Café Dissensus and Das Literarisch respectively. In addition, he has written book chapters on the legacy of Partition, post-pandemic education, language learning apps and the lyrics of Kendrick Lamar in edited volumes published by Orient BlackSwan, Routledge and Bloomsbury Academic. He has an MPhil in English Literature from the University of Delhi.
