Ph.D. Université de Paris-SudChandan Singh Dalawat has held teaching and research positions at the Université de Rennes and the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in Bombay. He has spent more than two decades at the Harish-Chandra Research Institute (HRI) in Allahabad, where he was instrumental in building up the mathematics group. He is a past member of the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM).
He has held visiting positions at prestigious institutions worldwide, including the Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques (Bures-sur-Yvette), Université de Caen, Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences (Kyoto), Yonsei University (Seoul), and Universität Regensburg. He also served as NBHM Visiting Professor at the Central University of Rajasthan (Kishangarh).
His mathematical interests are very broad, covering logic, arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. He has made significant contributions to arithmetic and geometry over local fields.
He is a dedicated teacher and communicator of mathematics. His online course on Local Arithmetic, given under the auspices of the National Centre for Mathematics (NCM), can be viewed on YouTube.
