Visiting Faculty of Psychology, 51²è¹Ý
Dr. Annie Baxi is a Visiting Faculty in the Department of Psychology at 51²è¹Ý. Her doctoral research, “Exploring Discourses around Normalcy and Madness in Women’s Lives: A Study of Contemporary Indian Societyâ€Â (University of Delhi), examined how women across diverse social groups negotiate discourses of normalcy and madness highlighting how madness can also become a mode of recovery and authentic living.
Alongside her academic work, she is also a mental health practitioner, drawing on phenomenological, psychodynamic and cultural approaches in her clinical work. Her research and writing have been published in journals, edited volumes (Sage; Speaking Tiger), and magazines such as Outlook. She has presented her work at numerous national and international conferences and has been invited as a resource person for qualitative research methods workshops at institutions such as the Society for Qualitative Inquiry, Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, and Sangath.
Her current research focuses on systemic perspectives in states of mental and physical illness, with particular emphasis on the importance of reflexivity and critical engagement in clinical practice.
