Assistant Professor of Computer Science, 51²è¹Ý
Ph.D. IIT DelhiProfessor Anirban Sen is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Sciences at 51²è¹Ý. Prior to joining Ashoka in 2024, he was a postdoctoral researcher at Microsoft Research India where he was a member of the Technology for Emerging Markets (TEM) team. He completed his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) from IIT Delhi.
His research interests lie in the domain of Computational Social Science, with a focus on problems that involve analysis of large scale web and media data. During his postdoctoral research, he worked towards the analysis of misinformation, hate speech, and propaganda communities on social media and their evolution over time, with respect to their user and network characteristics. During his PhD at IIT Delhi, he was a member of of the Appropriate Computing Technologies for Development (ACT4D) group where he contributed towards developing a system for political economy analysis around Indian policy events based on publicly available web and media data. Anirban also has an industry experience in the field of Data Science where he worked extensively towards developing solutions in the banking, finance, and insurance domains, leveraging Generative AI.
His work usually involves the application of various techniques related to text based information retrieval, NLP, statistical and machine learning based methods, and qualitative data analysis.
