Akansha previously earned her M.A. in Medieval History from the Centre for Historical Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University and her B.A. (Hons.) in History from the University of Delhi. Her research examines the political culture of Afghans in early modern South Asia, with a particular emphasis on state-craft, religion, identity, warfare, and patterns of migration. She is, with Nahid Morshedlou, the co-editor of the book Ansab (Har-Anand Publications, Delhi, 2024). Her article 鈥楢nxiety and Political Legitimacy in Eighteenth-Century North India: The Case of the Afghan Text 岣瘁簴ul膩峁�at ul-Ans膩b鈥� got published in the Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society (2025). She was awarded the Charles Wallace India Trust Fellowship for 2023-24. Akansha is proficient in English, Hindi, Urdu, and Persian, and is currently learning Pashto and Sanskrit.
