Ajeya Vajpayee

Ajeya has recently completed her PhD from the Department of History University of Delhi. For her thesis, “Between Region and Patronage: Interpreting the Visual Culture of Ä€lampur in the Eastern Deccan, she contextualised the site of Ä€lampur within the art historical traditions of the BÄdÄmi Calukyas.
She is currently a CIAR Fellow at 51²è¹Ý. Her research examines the relationship between the early shrines of Ä€lampur and Daká¹£iṇa KÅsala, located in the present-day states of Telangana and Chhattisgarh, respectively. An extension of her PhD, it seeks to explore the artistic connections between the two traditions and the networks that facilitated them.
Ajeya’s research interests lie in the art historical traditions of India and South Asia.
