Synthesis, sis: Demystify the Info Overload

  • This event has passed.

This workshop by the Centre of Writing and Communication introduces students to academic synthesis, a method that builds transferable skills to actively process multiple texts in tandem, and substantiate their argument. Focusing on simulating a student’s day-to-day study material, including lectures, reading texts, and other secondary data, it will prompt students to connect multimodal resources and move beyond summarising, towards an original act of creation. Through a proposed framework that enables the recording, analysing and interacting of sources, the workshop attempts to train students to contend with the oft-overwhelming volume of study material while also enriching their own insights.
