Speaker's Bio: Dr. Shilp Verma is the Deputy Country Representative – India and Senior Researcher for Water-Energy-Food Policies at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI). He has more than 20 years of experience in the water, energy and rural livelihoods domain. He studied Economics at the University of Delhi and did his masters in Rural Management from the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA). In 2001, Shilp joined the IWMI-Tata Water Policy Program and in 2005, Shilp was awarded an IWMI fellowship to study Water Resources Management at IHE, Delft. Between 2009 and 2019, Shilp worked as a Consulting Researcher with several national and international organizations and in 2019, Shilp joined IWMI as an internationally recruited scientist working on water-energy-food policies out of IWMI’s office in Anand, Gujarat. In his current role as Senior Researcher and Deputy Country Representative –India, Shilp provides leadership to influence policy aimed at sustainable resource management and economic growth in South Asia. He leads several IWMI initiatives in Asia and Africa and is widely acknowledged as a ‘thought leader’ in the water-energy-food domain.
