- This event has passed.
Dear All,
The Department of Economics is delighted to invite you to a Public Lecture by Prof. Anna Maria Mayda as part of its Eminent Speaker Series.
Title: The Political Impact of Globalization
Abstract: Globalization has produced benefits, on average, for countries that have liberalized but its effects have been uneven, with some individuals and locations within each country gaining and others losing. In turn, the uneven effects of globalization have caused a public backlash and shaped recent elections outcomes. This lecture will discuss theory and evidence on the political impact of globalization, focusing on trade, offshoring and immigration.
About Speaker: Anna Maria Mayda is a Professor of Economics at the School of Foreign Service and the Department of Economics at Georgetown University. Her research focuses on international migration, international trade, and political economy. She is a Research Fellow of CEPR, CReAM, and IZA. She obtained a PhD in Economics from Harvard University in 2003 and a Laurea in Economics from the University of Roma, La Sapienza, in 1997.
We look forward to having you with us.
