Mariya Ali graduated from Sophia College, Mumbai, majoring in History with minors in Psychology and Sociology. Her interdisciplinary education sparked a deep interest in understanding people, culture, and the stories of communities often left out of dominant narratives. She is particularly drawn to minority and oral histories, believing they offer valuable perspectives on the past. Beyond academics, she is committed to promoting financial literacy at the grassroots level, convinced that knowledge empowers change. Mariya hopes to blend research, storytelling, and community engagement to work toward inclusive and grounded social transformation. At the YIF, she looks forward to vibrant peer learning and multidisciplinary education—an experience she believes will sharpen her thinking, broaden her perspective, and humble her in the best way.
